13 DAYS TILL SUMMER
Premiere 08.08.2025
Movie description
Friday night in Poland has never been so bloody.
When someone brings a mask and a crossbow to a party instead of crisps, a carefree night turns into a fight for survival. Technology fails – the killer takes control of the security system. Doors lock, windows lock and the house turns into a prison.
Although the plot of ’13 Days to Holiday’ is fictional, its origins are disturbingly real. The filmmakers make no secret of the fact that the inspiration for the script came from real and shocking cases of violence and murder – stories that have moved public opinion both in Poland and abroad. Although the film does not recreate any specific crime, its plot and atmosphere were born out of authentic dramas whose echoes can be found in media reports from recent years.
– We live in a bubble of apparent security, unaware that crimes from the front pages of the newspapers and those that nobody talks about are happening every day – right next to us,” says director Bartosz M. Kowalski, one of the most uncompromising creators of contemporary Polish genre cinema.
In ’13 Days to Holidays’ he returns to a more realistic, soulful social thriller. His new film is a meeting of youthful horror with the brutal truth about a world that is only seemingly safe.
A HOUSE THAT BECOMES A TRAP
“13 Days to Holiday” is not only a chilling horror film – it is also a commentary on modern anxiety, in which home, instead of a refuge, becomes a prison. The film accurately punctuates our digital bubble of comfort – because today, you don’t have to go to a desolate forest to wake up in the middle of a horror movie. All you need to do is lock yourself in your house.
