Viewers young and old have fallen in love with “Too Old for Fairy Tales 2”, directed by Kristoffer Rus. The sequel to the family comedy, on general release since Friday, has already been seen by more than 152,000 people. “Too Old for Fairy Tales 2” has thus beaten the opening result of the first film three times over.
Poles have flocked to cinemas to see “Too Old for Fairy Tales 2”. Those who have already seen it are full of praise for the teenage trio of Maciej Karaś, Patryk Siemek and Amelia Fijałkowska. Audiences agree that after the adventures depicted in this sequel to the 2022 family hit, they are even fonder of the somewhat overprotective mum Teresa (Karolina Gruszka) and the madcap aunt Mariolka (Dorota Kolak). Viewers also appreciate the performances of the actors who have joined the well-established cast – Piotr (Paweł Domagała), Baca (Grzegorz Małecki) and Krzysztof (Michał Żurawski).
Positive reviews are also coming in from journalists – critics list a whole range of the production’s strengths: from the screenplay, through the direction and the acting, to the cinematography:
Screenwriter Agnieszka Dąbrowska combines a story about genuinely difficult matters with a lightness that reaches many kids and adults. Telling the story without moralising or a “grown-up” perspective is a challenge which, in my view, she has met. (…) “Too Old for Fairy Tales 2” is above all its three young characters and actors. Maciej Karaś, Amelia Fijałkowska and Patryk Siemek make a well-matched trio that is a pleasure to watch. They are remarkably natural and authentic
Marta Korycka, kultura.gazeta.pl
(…) Kristoffer Rus is a bit like the cool uncle who, at a family gathering, approaches the teenagers without cynicism, genuinely interested in making contact. As much out of curiosity about generational differences as out of a desire to create some shared matrix of understanding.
Maciej Satora, filmweb.pl
Alongside more intimate, low-key scenes, we also experience spectacular sequences on mountain trails. Rendered, incidentally, in a very picturesque way (cinematography by Jakub Stolecki), underlining that the Tatras, in all their majesty, are another protagonist of this engaging story.

What “Too Old for Fairy Tales 2” is about
Your favourite gaming trio is back! This time Waldek, Staszek and Delfina will live through a summer full of adventures in the Tatra Mountains. During a trip, Waldek accidentally learns that his father – of whom his mum has only ever said that he abandoned their family long ago – lives nearby. The boy resolves to find him at all costs and ask him in person about the reasons for that decision. Together with Staszek, under cover of night, they set off in search of him. The dangers lurking on the mountain trail are nothing compared to the task given to Delfina. The creative teenager must hide the truth about the boys’ disappearance from her unsuspecting aunt – Waldek’s mum – and… her new partner. What turmoil will this secret mission bring into the lives of all the characters? Will Waldek get the answers to the questions troubling him and come to understand his father’s actions?
