“Johnny”, directed by Daniel Jaroszek, produced and distributed by NEXT FILM, has received as many as eight nominations for the Eagles – the Polish Film Awards, including in the most important category – Best Film. The other nominees include two more titles distributed by NEXT FILM – “Apokawixa” and “F_cking Bornholm”. Together the films earned 14 nominations! The winners will be announced on 6 March.
Besides its Best Film nomination, “Johnny” picked up seven further nominations: Piotr Trojan for Best Leading Male Role, Dawid Ogrodnik for Best Leading Male Role, Maria Pakulnis for Best Supporting Female Role, Daniel Jaroszek for Discovery of the Year, and Maciej Kraszewski for Best Screenplay. “Johnny” also stands a chance of winning statuettes for Best Sound (Sebastian Brański, Wojciech Mielimąka, Marcin Kasiński) and Best Make-up (Liliana Gałązka).
“Johnny” is the second film produced and distributed by NEXT FILM. It attracted 979,043 viewers to cinemas, making it the second highest-grossing Polish film of 2022.
“Apokawixa”, a TVN Warner Bros. Discovery production directed by Xawery Żuławski, received nominations in the categories: Best Supporting Female Role (Matylda Damięcka), Best Supporting Male Role (Sebastian Fabijański), Best Costumes (Anna Englert) and Best Editing (Wojciech Włodarski). A few days earlier, the duo of Xawery Żuławski and Sebastian Fabijański was also nominated for the O!lśnienia – the Cultural Awards of Onet and the City of Kraków.
“F_cking Bornholm”, directed by Anna Kazejak, received nominations in the categories: Best Leading Female Role (Agnieszka Grochowska) and Best Supporting Male Role (Grzegorz Damięcki). “F_cking Bornholm” is produced by Friends With Benefits Studio, with TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, the Zachodniopomorski Fundusz Filmowy (West Pomeranian Film Fund) and Empik Go as co-producers. The film is based on an Empik Go audio drama.
In the coming weeks NEXT FILM will bring to cinemas “The Ikea Generation” (dir. Dawid Gral, in cinemas from 3 March), starring Bartosz Gelner and Michalina Olszańska – an adaptation of the much-talked-about book of the same title by Piotr C., a bold take on the sexuality of today’s young adults – as well as the comedy “Skołowani”, starring Agnieszka Grochowska and Michał Czernecki (dir. Jan Macierewicz, in cinemas from 14 April).
