A TALE OF LOVE AND DARKNESS
Premiere 01.04.2016
Movie description
The film “A Tale of Love and Darkness” is based on Amos Oz’s memories of growing up in Jerusalem. The writer recalls his childhood at the side of his parents: his pragmatic father Arieh and his dreamy mother Fania, blessed with an extraordinary imagination. Oz’s parents were one of the many Jewish families who came to Palestine from Europe in the 1930s, fleeing persecution. Arieh looked to the future with cautious hope; Fania longed for something more. Unhappy in her marriage, she found solace in telling her son extraordinary tales from the borderland of waking life and dream. Over time, the stories his mother spun grew ever darker and harder to understand. Soon the boy learns what can happen when a story becomes reality. It changed his entire life.
