This year, the Golden Lions in the Main Competition of the 51st Polish Film Festival in Gdynia will be contested by “Our Revolution”, directed by Piotr Domalewski and produced by Robert Kijak, and “Time That Never Came” – the directorial debut of Julia Rogowska, produced by Krystyna Kantor. Both films are distributed by NEXT FILM.
“Each of these titles represents a different kind of cinema, a different sensibility and a different language of storytelling. What unites them, however, is creative courage and the ambition to talk to audiences about important and timely matters” – says Robert Kijak, producer and president of NEXT FILM.
“Our Revolution” – the story of the extraordinary love of Gajka and Jacek
“Our Revolution”, directed by Piotr Domalewski, is a story inspired by real events about the extraordinary relationship of Grażyna and Jacek Kuroń. The film focuses on their love, which matured against the backdrop of repression, the struggle for freedom and political change in Poland. Magdalena Popławska and Arkadiusz Jakubik star in the leading roles. “Our Revolution” is a moving love story about people who believed they could change the world — and, above all, that they would do it together.
NEXT FILM is producing and distributing the film. It premieres in cinemas across Poland on 11 November 2026.
“Time That Never Came” – a story of a world with no place for old age
Julia Rogowska’s feature-length debut “Time That Never Came” is a moving drama set in the near future, in which ageing has become a social taboo and youth a condition of belonging to the new society. Sara, played by Agata Kulesza, refuses to undergo the anti-geriatric treatment, which condemns her to life in an isolation facility. When, after years, she manages to escape, she seeks help from Oskar — a man with whom she once planned a shared future, and who made a different, irreversible decision. The film raises questions about the right to grow old, authenticity and the freedom to live on one’s own terms.
The film is produced by Shipsboy. Alongside Agata Kulesza and Dobromir Dymecki, the cast includes Michalina Łabacz, Maciej Musiał, Vanessa Aleksander, Weronika Humaj and Bartosz Bielenia.
