A Warsaw premiere and a screening in a Gdańsk bunker – Bartosz M. Kowalski’s film “13 Days Till Summer” had its very special first screenings. From 8 August it can be seen in cinemas across Poland.

On Thursday, a Warsaw cinema hosted the official premiere screening of the horror film “13 Days Till Summer” – the first Polish home invasion thriller, set inside a smart home. The event was attended by the filmmakers, journalists and numerous guests from the worlds of culture and media. The entire cast appeared on the red carpet, including Katarzyna Gałązka, Antek Sztaba, Teodor Koziar, Julia Mika, Nicole Bogdanowicz, Hubert Łapacz, Borys Otawa, Olga Rayska and Bartek Deklewa. The evening was hosted by Łukasz Muszyński, editor-in-chief of the Filmweb portal.

– This is not just another slasher. It is a film about a fear we know from real life – about violence that may lurk around the corner, in the neighbourhood, at home – said director and co-writer Bartosz M. Kowalski.

A day earlier, on 7 August, the audience of the Octopus Film Festival in Gdańsk took part in a special screening of the film – in disused bunkers on the shipyard grounds. The screening was accompanied by immersive elements: a mysterious masked figure appeared among the audience, and the space was arranged so that viewers would feel like the trapped characters of the film.

What is the film about?

A Friday house party turns into hell when someone takes control of the security system of a modern home. Instead of crisps – a crossbow. Instead of music – panic. The smart home becomes a trap with no way out. The film is based on true stories of violence among young people and asks unsettling questions about the role of technology in today’s world.

THE FILMMAKERS

The film is directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski, who also wrote the screenplay together with Mirella Zaradkiewicz and Thor Magnusson. The crew includes acclaimed names of the Polish film industry, among them Cezary Stolecki (cinematography), Weronika Orlińska (costumes), Marcin Rodak (make-up) and Natalia Giza (production design). The producer is Jan Kwieciński, Akson Studio (“Sexify”, “1670”).
