On 9 May, the family film “Grandpa, Let’s Go!” debuts on cinema screens. Directed by Olga Chajdas, it is a story full of humour and warmth about life’s most important values. The film set brought together a constellation of stars of the older generation: Jan Peszek, Wiktor Zborowski and Włodzimierz Press. Anna Nowak plays the fearless granddaughter, and Agnieszka Grochowska plays her mother. Today we present the film’s official poster.

“Grandpa, Let’s Go!” is a story packed with action and humour, combining “Indiana Jones”-style adventures with a universal message about dealing with emotions, honesty and understanding. The story flowing from the screen draws viewers in not only with its narrative but also with its form, in which live action interweaves with elements of animation.

– It is a film for kids who still love listening to their grandparents’ stories, for grandparents who love to inspire, and for parents who pretend nothing fazes them – says the film’s director, Olga Chajdas.

 

WHAT THE FILM “GRANDPA, LET’S GO!” IS ABOUT

One day, Grandpa Jeremi causes such a commotion at his retirement home that he risks being transferred to a psychiatric hospital. His daughter Marta agrees to take him in, although it is hard for her, because Jeremi is unpredictable and has a vivid imagination. Things are complicated by Jagoda, Marta’s daughter, who adores her grandfather and shares his crazy ideas. When Jeremi refuses to live with the family, Jagoda decides to take matters into her own hands. The girl and her grandfather set off on an adventure-filled journey to the legendary ship, the Light of the Sea. In pursuit are a gang of villains led by the wealthy Waldemar, and Jagoda’s terrified mum. Oh, and a dragon – a dragon sets off after them too.

The role of Jagoda will be a debut for Anna Nowak. Her grandfather Jeremi is played by Jan Peszek, and her mother by Agnieszka Grochowska. The cast also includes Michał Majnicz, Włodzimierz Press, Wiktor Zborowski and Sonia Roszczuk. The second child role is played by Filip Tkaczyk.

The screenplay is by Emil Płoszajski. Cinematography is by Bartosz Bieniek. The film is produced by Małgorzata Małysa and Karolina Galuba of Furia Film. Distribution will be handled by NEXT FILM. The co-producers are: moloko film, Wytwórnia Filmów Fabularnych we Wrocławiu, Fale Loki Koki, Moderator Inwestycje, EC1 Łódź – Miasto Kultury, Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe, Instytut Kultury Miejskiej – operator of the Gdańsk Film Fund, Abstraction Plan, Aneta Graff – Dąbrowska New Wave Film and Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych i Fabularnych.

The film is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
