“Sparrow”, or everything changes. See the trailer

“Sparrow” is a story about the ironies of life, told with detachment and intelligent humor. In it, absurdity meets truth and a touch of magic realism. Starring Jacek Borusiński, Julia Chętnicka, Krzysztof Stroiński, Piotr Rogucki, Bartłomiej Kotschedoff. The screenplay, music and director is Tomasz Gąssowski. It will premiere in theaters on August 23. We present the trailer and poster of the film.

– I have always appreciated films that tell about important things in a light and funny way. I would like there to be such, if only a little, truth about man in this film of mine,” says Tomasz Gąssowski. He is an award-winning filmmaker, composer of music for Andrzej Jakimowski’s films (including “Tricks”, “Squint Your Eyes”, MocArt RMF Classic for the best film music in 2013 for “Imagine”) and director (“Baraż” was recognized with numerous awards, including at the Warsaw Film Festival, the National Film Art Festival “Prowincjonalia”, the Lubuskie Film Summer, the International Film and Music Festival “Transatlantyk”).

The lead role is played by Jacek Borusiński, who also starred in the director’s previous film, “Baraż”.
– We both pay very close attention to nuances, details, small things, but important things that make us laugh and move us. Tomek has an incredible ability to show big, important things in a light-hearted way, in a world somewhere far from the center, on the outskirts, where our protagonist, Remek Sparrow, lives – a tragicomic and, above all, I hope, true character,” the actor stresses.

ABOUT THE FILM “SPARROW”

Remek Sparrow is a letter carrier and an avid football player of an amateur team. He is reaching his forties and leads the life of a bachelor. He passionately studies the encyclopedia, practicing his extraordinary memory. Apart from his revolving friend Pedro, who runs a shady business, he has no one close to him in the world. And he is fine with that. One day everything changes – his well-ordered life turns upside down, to which a new, talkative neighbor Marzenka and a grandfather, whom he has not known so far, unexpectedly appear in it. Remek will have to learn how to make lemonade when life gives you lemons.

The lead role of the letter carrier, whose whole life suddenly changes, is played by Jacek Borusiński, co-founder of the Mumio Group. He is partnered by Julia Chętnicka (who delighted in “The Queen” alongside Andrzej Seweryn), Krzysztof Stroinski, Piotr Rogucki, Bartłomiej Kotschedoff, Agnieszka Matysiak. In roles that are unusual for them, episodic appearances will be made by the great name of the advertising world Iwo Zaniewski, legendary sports commentator Stefan Szczepłek, Wojciech Fiedorczuk, known for stand-up, footballer Radek Majewski, and journalist Michał Ogórek.

The film’s cinematographer is Wojciech Staroń, His work includes cinematography for such films as “Papusza” (with Krzysztof Ptak), “Savior’s Square” and “Birds are Singing in Kigali.” He has received many awards for his work in Poland and around the world, including the Silver Bear at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival.

The film is produced by Robert Kijak (NEXT FILM). Distribution will be handled by NEXT FILM.
