“In-Laws 2” takes cinemas by storm! The film has already been seen by over 130,000 people

“In-Laws 2”, directed by Kalina Alabrudzińska, is taking cinemas by storm! The sequel to the cult comedy with its all-star cast, on general release since Friday, has already been seen by more than 130,000 people. “In-Laws 2” has thus decisively beaten the result of the first film – back then, after its opening weekend, “In-Laws” had more than 78,000 viewers to its name.

– I wanted viewers to be able to get to know the characters even better and like them even more. We wanted “In-Laws 2” to be our own story about today’s world, told in our own cinematic language – a film that is visually beautiful and funny at the same time – said the film’s director Kalina Alabrudzińska before the premiere. And everything suggests she has achieved her goal – viewers are full of praise and stress that they have fallen even harder for Małgorzata (Maja Ostaszewska), Wanda (Izabela Kuna) and Tadeusz (Adam Woronowicz). They have also given an exceptionally warm welcome to Jan (Eryk Kulm jr), who has become part of a crew that makes you laugh until you cry and gives you food for thought. The actors themselves often speak of their affection not only for their characters but also for their colleagues on set, agreeing that they enjoy each other’s company both in front of the camera and in private life.

What is “In-Laws 2” about?

Will the wedding happen this time? Weronika and Łukasz – the would-be newlyweds from the first film – decide to give themselves a second chance and invite the family to a wedding and reception in a seaside town. Among the guests are characters viewers already know well: Wanda and Tadeusz with their dog Mirelka, as well as the divorced Małgorzata accompanied by… Jan, more than a dozen years her junior, and her mother. The sea, the drinks and the scantily clad beachgoers all make the members of the young couple’s family open up more and more and drop their successive masks.

“In-Laws 2” is a comic and ironic tale about the state of a thirty-year marriage, about the generation gap in a relationship – which still seems to be a taboo subject – and about whether getting married is worth it at all.

The first film, which premiered two years ago, instantly won the hearts of both audiences and critics. “In-Laws” drew more than 450,000 viewers to cinemas and later enjoyed a long run of success on streaming platforms.

On the set of “In-Laws 2”, Maja Ostaszewska, Izabela Kuna, Adam Woronowicz and Ewa Dałkowska met once again. They were joined in the cast by Eryk Kulm jr and Andrzej Zieliński.

As with the first film, the screenplay is by Marek Modzelewski, and the film is directed by Kalina Alabrudzińska.

The film is produced by AKSON STUDIO. The co-producers are TVN Warner Bros. Discovery and NEXT FILM. The film is distributed in Poland by NEXT FILM.
