“Johnny” is a story based on true events — one that moves and inspires. It is told from the perspective of Jan Kaczkowski’s charge, Patryk Galewski — a young man who did not have an easy start in life.

Patryk breaks into a cottage in a small town. A court sentences him to community service at the hospice in Puck, where he meets the remarkable Fr. Jan Kaczkowski. The priest gets young vocational-school boys — seemingly hardened rebels — involved in helping the terminally ill. In his work he focuses on closeness, tenderness and fighting for real relationships with other people. He teaches empathy. And he does it with wholesale amounts of humour, which wins him enormous popularity. Not long afterwards, Jan himself becomes a patient of his own hospice. Patryk finds himself in a situation that will change his entire life.

“Johnny” is the second film produced and distributed by NEXT FILM. It drew 979,043 viewers to cinemas, making it the second highest-grossing Polish film of 2022.
