The Helios cinema in Warsaw hosted the gala premiere of the much-talked-about “The Ikea Generation”, an adaptation of the controversial bestseller of the same title by Piotr C. The event was attended by the filmmakers and cast, including Bartosz Gelner, Michalina Olszańska and Majka Jeżowska, as well as invited guests. The film opens in cinemas this Friday, 3 March.
Dawid Gral wrote and directed the film, and Monika Raj produced it. Show business was well represented at the premiere. Walking the red carpet were: Magdalena Cielecka, Nergal, Zofia Zborowska, Anna Samusionek, Ramona Rey, Martin Stankiewicz, Maja Staśko and others. The guests also included the author, Piotr C., who congratulated the filmmakers behind the scenes – yet he managed to remain anonymous and did not reveal his identity. Exceptionally, the crew and invited guests were joined by people who had purchased tickets to the premiere.
THE GENERATION THAT MADE SCREWING ITS LIFE’S GOAL
Piotr Czarny is a charming thirty-something lawyer. He is forever chasing adrenaline, women and parties. He has set himself the goal of filling his list of lovers with a name for every letter of the alphabet. His plan is thrown into doubt when his work colleague Olga – the only woman he is completely honest with and does not sleep with – gives him an ultimatum.
Following this cynical, hedonistic protagonist, we plunge into a world of casual sex, quick dates and one-night stands served up by online apps. The film paints an unprudish portrait of people whom easy access to goods has taught that everything can be replaced cheaply and without a second thought – a computer, furniture, a flat, even a relationship.
Bartosz Gelner and Michalina Olszańska star as Piotr and Olga. The cast also includes: Majka Jeżowska, Paweł Małaszyński, Jan Aleksandrowicz-Krasko, Sławomir Mandes, Dagmara Bryzek, Adrianna Izydorczyk, Karolina Gorczyca, Zuzanna Galewicz, Mateusz Dymidziuk, Marta Bryła and – for the first time on the big screen – Adi Nowak.
The film is promoted by Leepeck with the song “Dopóki jesteś”:
The song is available on streaming services: https://agoramuzyka.ffm.to/LeepeckDopoki.
The film also features the track “ABCDEF♥️UCK” by Adi Nowak. The music video is already online – it was directed by Dawid Gral.
