Agnieszka Grochowska and Michał Czernecki star in a story of a love that will transform the greatest of liars – the trailer for “Skołowani” is now online. The cast also features Marianna Zydek, Gabriela Muskała, Marcin Perchuć, Bartłomiej Kotschedoff, Jerzy Bończak, Maria Pakulnis, Mikołaj Grabowski and Krzysztof Materna. “Skołowani” is the directorial debut of Jan Macierewicz. ABOUT THE FILM

Maks is an incorrigible womaniser and a notorious liar. When Anna, a young and attractive woman, takes him for a disabled person, Maks digs deeper into the lie, counting on another easy conquest. Anna, however, has a different plan – she introduces him to her older sister, Julia, who uses a wheelchair. Unexpectedly, something more begins to grow between the cynical Maks and the energetic Julia, but… a lie as the foundation of a relationship? Does this love stand a chance?

– This story has something I like in films: it is funny, yet at times moving; it talks about important matters and goes quite deep into its characters without losing a comic view of life – says Agnieszka Grochowska. – Stepping into the shoes of someone who thinks differently, who breaks the stereotype and the accepted way of thinking, and who gives a great deal of herself – that was a real joy – she adds about the role of Julia.

Michał Czernecki plays a notorious liar who will do anything to pick up yet another woman. – I like Maks for his sense of humour, for his imperfection and fragility masked by apparent self-confidence. He is a very rewarding character to play. I also like that he never gives up, even in causes that are not entirely right… – he says of his character.

AVALON FOUNDATION PATRONAGE

The film is under the social patronage of Fundacja Avalon (the Avalon Foundation), which works for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses as a non-profit non-governmental organisation with Public Benefit Organisation status.

– The film “Skołowani” is a fictional story which, through the lens of disability and by means characteristic of its genre, aspires to convey universal truths about human emotions, feelings and characters – says Helena Szczuka, head of communications and promotion at the Avalon Foundation. – An accident and disability are a very individual experience, and people who experience disability are a group diverse in almost every respect. It has to be said that the film crew took care of the details, and the character of Julia is very believable – she adds.

 

“Skołowani” is the directorial debut of Jan Macierewicz. The screenplay was written by Agata K. Koschmieder, the film is produced by ATM Grupa, and NEXT FILM is handling distribution.

“Skołowani” hits cinemas on 14 April.
