“If I Were You”, directed by Antonio Galdámez, is conquering cinemas and winning audiences’ hearts! The comedy about an unexpected swap, produced by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery and on general release since Friday, has already been seen by more than 100,000 people.

Original humour, themes that invite reflection without overwhelming, and excellent actors – these are the aspects most often highlighted by viewers who have already seen the comedy “If I Were You”. Although the film directed by Antonio Galdámez has been on general release for only a few days (since 6 January), it has already won audiences over. The latest TVN Warner Bros. Discovery production has been seen by more than 100,000 people.

– We are delighted that “If I Were You”, directed by Antonio Galdámez and this year’s first cinema production from TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, has drawn crowds of viewers hungry for humour to cinemas. I believe that, beyond the laughs, this film story has offered moviegoers a moment to reflect on what really matters in life, where we lose our way in male-female relationships, what we are looking for and what we miss in the rush of everyday life. It is a great joy to see cinema theatres fill up again. Perhaps we will look at the opposite sex with a little more empathy and understanding? – says Anna Waśniewska, the film’s producer.

Behind the scenes of “If I Were You”

The remarkable entertainment on screen is the result of excellent collaboration on set. This is how Paulina Gałązka, who played both Kasia and Krzysiek, remembers the shoot:

– Miron is a very good partner and a great person. I am very happy that it was in this duo that we faced such a difficult acting task. We built both roles together, and it was a challenge. Luckily, we share similar professional values, we like playing for the same team, and work for us is a creative exchange. Thanks to that, this task became an opportunity to grow and to enrich ourselves with each other’s acting tools. It was a wonderful adventure!

– From an acting point of view it is not a body swap, but playing the Krzysiek that Paulina created and the Kasia that I created, and then following those roles through after the swap. On top of that, we based the characters closely on ourselves, so in the end, when I was Krzysiek, I was partly playing the way Paulina sees me – and vice versa. It is rather schizophrenic, but I don’t know if it could have been approached any other way. We even named our post-swap characters Kasiek and Krzysia so as not to get lost in it all – adds Miron Jagniewski, who also took on the challenge of playing both Krzysiek and Kasia.

What is “If I Were You” about?

Kasia and Krzysiek are a young, attractive married couple with an adorable little son and a flat in a picturesque neighbourhood. They seem to have every reason to be happy, and yet they are on the verge of divorce. They spend every day the same way – arguing. Until one morning, when they suddenly have to cooperate like never before. All because of… a body swap. From now on Krzysiek is Kasia and Kasia is Krzysiek. Each of them has to take over the other’s duties and face problems they never even knew existed… Will this make them see each other differently and learn empathy? The body swap is merely a device the filmmakers use to say a few perceptive things about the world we live in.

The lead roles of both Kasia and Krzysiek are played by Paulina Gałązka and Miron Jagniewski, joined on screen by Maria Pakulnis, Magdalena Lamparska, Jan Frycz, Janusz Chabior, Michał Czernecki, Bartłomiej Kotschedoff and Delfina Wilkońska, among others. “If I Were You” was directed by Antonio Galdámez, in his feature-length fiction debut. The screenplay was written by Łukasz Światowiec and Anna Bielak.

The film is produced by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery. NEXT FILM is handling distribution.
