KLEKS IS BACK!
WATCH THE FILM’S TRAILER!
Who will play the part of Filip Golarz? How big a role will computer effects play? Will the songs known from the previous version appear in the film? These are just a few of the questions on the minds of viewers who cannot wait for the new adaptation of Jan Brzechwa’s cult novel. Today we present a small foretaste of what the enchanted world of Professor Ambroży Kleks will look like. We invite you to watch the first trailer for “Kleks Academy”, directed by Maciej Kawulski.
Awe-inspiring set design, costumes created with attention to every detail, outstanding actors and dozens of talented children. That, in short, is how the set of “Kleks Academy”, directed by Maciej Kawulski, could be described. To best capture the atmosphere of the magical tale that whole generations of Poles grew up with, and to inspire new audiences, the filmmakers visited the most varied corners of Europe: from Norway to Bulgaria.
– After everything I have managed to create in my life, I rather immodestly thought there was nothing left for me to fear. Producing Kleks and working with exceptionally talented kids quickly made me realise that this simply was not true… but it was never fear for the project – it was the fear of whether I would manage to become a child again for a few months, so as to tell this beautiful story as credibly as possible – says Maciej Kawulski, the film’s director and producer.
Professor Ambroży’s enchanted school is attended by pupils from all over the world. This extraordinary journey into the land of creativity and imagination will therefore be not only great entertainment for viewers, but also an encouragement to develop their own skills and a lesson in tolerance and openness. As the filmmakers emphasise, the educational aspect of the film was important to them, and they approached it in an unconventional, innovative way – just like the entire production.
The final clapperboard fell on the set of “Kleks Academy” on 22 November. The film is now entering post-production. KLEKS will appear on cinema screens everywhere next year! The film is produced by Open Mind Production. NEXT FILM is handling the film’s distribution.
ABOUT THE FILM AND THE FILMMAKERS
“Kleks Academy” is a modernised version of Brzechwa’s classic tale, one that speaks to the youngest viewers through its content and form while also entering into a dialogue with older audiences who still remember the cult 1980s adaptation. The film tells the story of a seemingly ordinary girl – Ada Niezgódka – who arrives at the titular Academy to discover the world of fairy tales, imagination and creativity. With the help of the brilliant, madcap educator Professor Ambroży Kleks she develops her amazing abilities, and also picks up a trail that will help her unravel her family’s greatest mystery…
Ambroży Kleks is played by Tomasz Kot, anointed as his successor by Piotr Fronczewski himself. Ada Niezgódka is played by Antonina Litwiniak. The screenplay is by Krzysztof Gureczny. The film is directed by Maciej Kawulski.
