On 6 January 2023, “If I Were You”, directed by Antonio Galdámez and produced by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, arrives on cinema screens. An uplifting comedy in which the body swap of the two main characters is merely a pretext for a story about how coming to know another person’s perspective can affect the quality of our relationships. Starring Paulina Gałązka and Miron Jagniewski, joined by Maria Pakulnis, Magdalena Lamparska, Jan Frycz, Michał Czernecki and Delfina Wilkońska, among others. Today we present the film’s trailer.

They wanted change, not an exchange!

Kaśka and Krzysiek – a young, attractive married couple with an adorable little son and a flat in a picturesque neighbourhood. It seems they ought to be happy, and yet they are on the brink of divorce. They spend every day the same way – arguing. Until one morning, from which point on they have to cooperate like never before. And all because of… a body swap. From now on, Krzysiek is Kaśka and Kaśka is Krzysiek. Each of them has to take over the other’s duties and face problems they never even knew existed… Will this make them look at each other differently and learn empathy? The body swap is just a device the filmmakers use to say a few thought-provoking things about the world we live in.

– I absolutely loved this acting challenge. After the intensely feminine roles I had played before, for example in “Dziewczyny z Dubaju”, playing a guy? A fantastic adventure! Besides, after the screen tests I knew the project would have wonderful energy and creators. The director’s attentiveness and preparation simply won me over. Miron and I clicked already at that stage, and the production team ensured a professional and creative atmosphere – says Paulina Gałązka, who plays Kaśka and, after the body swap, Krzysiek as well.

Surprising challenges at work and at home. Being perceived completely differently by society, and finally getting used to a new physicality – like having breasts or sitting ‘the male way’. All of this will cause the characters plenty of problems, and give the audience both laughter and food for thought.

“If I Were You” is directed by Antonio Galdámez, for whom it is his full-length fiction debut. This is what he says about the film:

– A director’s domain is working with actors. That is of course a great pleasure, but also a challenge. We told the story of the characters’ relationship in a witty, cheerful way, but it was also important to me to include the shadows – things that are hard to work through and that give you pause. Working with different tones, constantly balancing the proportions between laughter and tears – it was an extremely interesting and inspiring process.

The lead roles, of both Kaśka and Krzysiek, are played by Paulina Gałązka and Miron Jagniewski, joined on screen by Maria Pakulnis, Magdalena Lamparska, Jan Frycz, Michał Czernecki and Delfina Wilkońska, among others. The film’s screenplay is by Łukasz Światowiec and Anna Bielak.
