“Apokawixa”, directed by Xawery Żuławski, has been compared in reviews to “Project X” – this is the party Polish cinema has been waiting for! The craziest film of the autumn is now in cinemas, and a playlist of songs from the film’s soundtrack is available online. We are also presenting the film’s artistic poster, created by Andrzej Pągowski.
Since its premiere, “Apokawixa” has been seen by 48,000 viewers – a better result than popular titles with similar themes such as “Zombieland: Double Tap”, “Warm Bodies”, “The Dead Don’t Die” and “Project X”.

“Apokawixa” is more than just full-blooded entertainment cinema – it has been earning rave reviews from critics. “At last, a comedy that laughs at the pandemic. Where do zombies come from, and why do we ourselves so often feel as if we had risen from the grave? Xawery Żuławski’s ‘Apokawixa’ works its magic over one massive bender. When the dust settles, we will find out what ails us. This is Polish voodoo,” writes Adrianna Prodeus for Vogue.pl. “It delivers entertainment the likes of which Poland hasn’t seen in a long time,” assures Stanisław Bryś of Noizz.pl. “We want more cinema like this,” say Sfilmowani in their review.
The artistic poster for the film, produced by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, was created by Andrzej Pągowski, who says of the film:
– Xawery Żuławski’s “Apokawixa” is genre cinema. It is great entertainment. It amuses some and frightens others, but above all it touches on important issues of environmental contamination and threats to the planet. Dynamically made and deftly acted, it draws you in and engages you from the very first moments.

Sometimes a hangover is not the worst thing that can happen to you… “Apokawixa” is the story of a group of high-school seniors who – worn out by successive lockdowns – decide to throw the “party of a lifetime” at the seaside. Despite alarmingly high levels of cyanobacteria in the Baltic and cases of strange infections, at first everything goes as normal – beach, dancing, sex, drinking, romantic highs and heartbreaks. Yet minute by minute, everything begins to spiral out of control. In the middle of the party, a zombie epidemic breaks out. The characters must fight for their lives.
