“There will be no tomorrow,” says one of the heroines of “Apokawixa”. Together with a group of friends, she will find out that nature polluted by humans knows how to take revenge… A zombie epidemic will catch them at the least expected moment – in the middle of an epic party. The TVN Warner Bros. Discovery production directed by Xawery Żuławski premieres at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia this Tuesday, 13 September. “Apokawixa” is competing for the Golden Lions in the festival’s Main Competition.
Sometimes a hangover is not the worst thing that can happen to you… “Apokawixa” is the story of a group of high-school seniors who – worn out by successive lockdowns – decide to throw the “party of a lifetime” at the seaside. Despite alarmingly high levels of cyanobacteria in the Baltic and cases of strange infections, at first everything goes as normal – beach, dancing, sex, drinking, romantic highs and heartbreaks. Yet minute by minute, everything begins to spiral out of control. In the middle of the party, a zombie epidemic breaks out. The characters must fight for their lives.
The film features promising actors of the young generation: Mikołaj Kubacki, Waleria Gorobets, Natalia Pitry, Alicja Wieniawa-Narkiewicz, Mariusz Urbaniec, Aleksander Kaleta, Mikołaj Matczak, Marta Stalmierska, Monika Mikołajczak, Oskar Wojciechowski.
