The first in-person casting sessions are starting for the new film by Maciej Kawulski (How I Became a Gangster. True Story, Jak pokochałam gangstera), based on the iconic Kleks Academy.
Wanted: the heroes of the Kleks films
On Saturday and Sunday, 12 and 13 February, Bajka Pana Kleksa in Katowice will host the first in-person casting sessions for children and teenagers for roles in the new feature film based on Kleks Academy. The production is looking for young actors aged 8-15, both girls and boys, regardless of their experience in front of the camera.
Open castings are a rarity in Poland, which is why we are expecting enormous interest. We want to give a chance to everyone who would like to try their hand at acting. We have prepared well for this. As many as 8 film crews will be waiting for the young actresses and actors. We plan to meet more than 2,000 candidates – says Maciej Kawulski, director of Kleks Academy.
The film will be produced by Open Mind Production, with Bajka Pana Kleksa as co-producer. NEXT FILM will handle distribution in Poland.
Kleks Academy is a modernised take on Brzechwa’s classic tale, speaking through its content and form to the youngest viewers, while also entering into a dialogue with older audiences who still remember the iconic screen adaptation from the 1980s.
How to take part in the casting?
To ensure the greatest possible comfort and safety of the participants, prior free online registration for a chosen day and time is required.
After registering at www.bajkapanakleksa.pl, participants will receive an entry pass and the scenes to prepare by email.
The casting sessions will take place on 12 and 13 February at Bajka Pana Kleksa in Katowice, at ul. Porcelanowa 23. They will run from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Candidates should come with a legal guardian.
