“8 Things” has been playing in cinemas since Friday. How do men cope at antenatal classes? What do they ban in the car? How do they settle a dispute over a call with a football referee? How do they fight for love? Viewers of the comedy will find out. And a taste of it awaits in the spot.
– I would like us to treat this title as a kind of metaphor, because the film really tells us about guys, and about women, and about male–female relationships, and about that bottomless well of our male and female emotions, said Mikołaj Roznerski on Dzień Dobry TVN.
After the enormous success of the first film – “7 rzeczy, których nie wiecie o facetach” – Alicja Bachleda-Curuś, Mikołaj Roznerski, Zbigniew Zamachowski, Maciej Zakościelny, Piotr Głowacki and Leszek Lichota reunited on set. They were joined by Karolina Bruchnicka, Katarzyna Skrzynecka and Joanna Jarmołowicz.
“8 Things” is the follow-up to the comedy hit that drew more than a million viewers to cinemas in 2016. Alongside the guys audiences know so well, some entirely new faces appear on screen, among them characters played by Popek, Sobota, Michał Karmowski and Marek Dyjak. The first three play shady characters whom the comedy’s main heroes encounter on their way. Marek Dyjak took on the role of a children’s football team coach.
– Having Paweł Popek, Sobota and Michał Karmowski in the film brought a great deal of authenticity and genuine emotion. They gave the scenes they appeared in a character all of their own. Impossible to fake. They were masters at defusing tension between takes and created a brilliant atmosphere on set. I am glad that I met the characters they created on my film journey, and not in a dark city alley, says the film’s director, Sylwester Jakimow.
WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?
Five years older, but not necessarily more mature, the guys swing back into action! The power of friendship, moments of emotion and the wild adventures of characters audiences adore. How have their lives turned out? What came after the proverbial “happily ever after”? In the new instalment of the comedy about male “weaknesses”, Ricky battles a creative crisis, Jarosław struggles with panic attacks, Filip goes wild on the stock market, Stefan tries to keep his anger in check, and Kordian tries to mend a broken heart. Only Tomek, the last of the friends, still boldly pursues his dreams. And it finally lands him in trouble. Alongside Basia and Zosia, familiar from the previous film, a brand-new heroine – the mysterious Pestka – gets swept into the whirlwind of the guys’ escapades.
