“In-Laws” – Polish audiences have been waiting years for an UNromantic comedy like this! We present the second trailer for the story of what happens at a wedding reception after a called-off wedding, when the almost-in-laws’ tempers fray. Starring Maja Ostaszewska, Marcin Dorociński, Izabela Kuna and Adam Woronowicz. From today, “In-Laws” can be seen at preview screenings in cinemas all over Poland.
“In-Laws” is above all a showcase for its four leading actors. Adam Woronowicz said this about working on set: – We had one scene that ran over a dozen pages. You have to memorise not only your own lines, but also your partners’ lines, and synchronise the tempo so that everything happens naturally. It’s quite an effort and it demands focus from everyone. What happens in the background, behind us, during the take also matters. Everything was preceded by long rehearsals, fine-tuning, camera rehearsals, and then a first, second, third, fourth take. But the location was beautiful – the Polonia hotel, closed because of the pandemic. The conditions were comfortable – we could never have built a set like that on any soundstage. Kitchens, rooms, ballrooms – everything was right there.
Director Kuba Michalczuk adds: – Making my debut, I couldn’t have dreamed of a better cast. The actors create extraordinary performances here. Their incredible acting display becomes even more impressive with every scene. I can promise viewers that they have never seen these four in roles like these. Their contribution was invaluable. I wanted to use the rehearsals to deepen each of the characters, to give them even more detail. Together we polished the scenes and dialogue so that we could ultimately create a film the likes of which Poland hasn’t seen in a long time.

WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN TEMPERS FRAY
Is a wedding reception after a called-off wedding a recipe for disaster? Absolutely. And what a disaster! The two families differ in everything – background, status, the contents of their wallets, taste. The parents of the groom (Maja Ostaszewska, Marcin Dorociński) and of the bride (Izabela Kuna, Adam Woronowicz) are initially in shock. What happened? Whose fault is it? What about the reception? Should they greet the guests? Play the music? Pour the vodka? Who will cut the cake? One word leads to another, and polite smiles turn into a public airing of dirty laundry. Until finally a real bombshell drops… Meanwhile, the reception spins into a wild party. And nobody minds the absence of the bride and groom.
